[On this particularly blustery day, Pascal is lounging around in the library and making a general mess of the area around her. There are books laid out all over the table she's sat at, some piled up close by on the floor, everywhere. Even then she keeps getting up to find some other book to add to her collection. Most of the books she's reading through follow the theme of today's weather. Be it wind socks, wind surfing, anemometers, windmills, whatever, she's likely found a book on it. There's one particular book the she's so fully engrossed in that she doesn't even notice when a stack of books slips of the table.

Flying a kite sounds like a blast! There are so many different kinds of kites with different designs to them out there. To Pascal it seems like a great way to make the best out of the weather. Now she could just go and look for a kite in the item shop and see what comes up, but where's the fun in that? She's going to make her own. She makes a few trips to the item shop for some craft supplies, bring her haul back to the library so she can start her work (and make even more of a mess than before).]

[With her work soon finished, Pascal can be found testing out her kite in the plaza. She's running around all over the place, waving her arms like a madwoman in an attempt to get her kite to take off.]

C'mon, you can do it! Three, two, one, go go go!! [We have lift off! Pascal's excitement is short lived however as a particularly strong gust of wind sends the kite swerving downwards, causing it to crash into the ground not long after it took off. Wooden canes and construction paper everywhere.] Aw bananas, the wind completely totaled it... Oh well! [That was just a test flight anyway. Time to make another one!]

[Finally, in the afternoon, Pascal has finished her second kite and has managed to get it airborne. This isn't just any normal box kite though. There are two strings leading from the kite, one is used to keep the kite under control and the other is a pullstring. When Pascal yanks down on the pullstring, confetti starts spilling out of the kite! The wind helps in spreading the confetti around, effectively showering the plaza with multicoloured paper. Hopefully the colourful display will help cheer a few people up, especially given the draft from not too long ago and the number of entries she's seen about people going home over the journals.

While the confetti pouring out of the sky looks impressive, it's going to look a lot less interesting when it's piled up on the ground and being blown all over the place. The books and remaining craft supplies she left in the library don't look all that great either. She should probably figure out how she's going to clean everything up. Maybe. At some point. Later... Feel free to run into Pascal at any point during her day, from messing up the library to flying her kites!]

Not- not much really. [This is already a bit awkward and kind of the good sort of embarrassing. But. He did this and now he's got to follow through!]

What sort of kite is that?

Box kite, y'know, 'cause it looks like a big ol' box floating in the air. Or two boxes stuck together, depending on how you want to look at it!

[Either way, yup, definitely a box kite.] Pretty cool, huh?

It doesn't look like it ought to be able to fly, does it?

[When he tries to gesture, he notices the box still in his hands and turns red again.] Um, here, this is for you.

Nope, but it can! It's all 'cause of the- [BOX. Explanation derailed.] Ohmigosh, really, for me?!

[It's not her birthday yet and she ended up forgetting about it, is it? Nah, no way... Some Luceti holiday? Maybe! She can put more thought into why she's being given something later.]

Oh man, you shouldn't have and stuff! [She looks between the box and the kite's string in her hand, choosing to hand the kite off to Luke for a moment while she takes the box.] Can you hold onto that for a sec? Thanks! So I can open it now, right?

It would be rude to give you something and then tell you you can't open it!

[It is a miniature version of Shot Cube. Made of wood, and movable. The 'initial puzzle' ice block pegs can be fixed into place while the others get to move around on a grid.

Luke is proud and the people who helped him should be proud too and he hopes she likes it. Layton's homemade puzzle gave him the idea.]

[She'll get back to pondering about how rude it is to give people things they can't open later, right now she's too busy tearing into the box. When she spots the puzzle and pulls it out her jaw drops.]

No way... You really got something like this just for ol' Pascal? Awwwh!

[She holds the puzzle in one hand and with the other she slides some of the cubes around to try it out. This is seriously awesome!]

You can't really 'go kapow' with it but it must be hard to make big ice cubes all the time, and Professor Layton made a similar puzzle not too long ago so i thought...

[Nope, you can totally still do that on miniature Shot Cube. She flicks one of the blocks to slide it around, whispering a quiet 'kapow' to herself as she does so. Awesomer than awesome.]

Aah, the big cubes are nothin'. But wait, you and that other puzzle guy make puzzles too? That's so cool, you were totally thinking right!

Well, he doesn't always make puzzles, not like this one. Actually, he lost the last one he made somewhere in the village.

[She seems to like it, though. A gentleman's duty done.]

[Like it? Try love it.]

Aw man, that sounds like a total bummer. But you know what that means, yeah? We hafta go find it for him.

That was a few weeks ago. I think he's decided the search is over by now, and I'm sure he'll just make another. Thanks though! Not many people here like puzzles nearly as much as we do.

Booo... [That's a shame. She'll have to figure out a little more about that lost puzzle later on.] There are tons of people around who want to give all sorts of puzzles a go, even if they're not totally crazy about 'em! You might end up bringing out everyones inner puzzle lover or something.

Whenever I leave on in my journal for everybody, it doesn't seem like too many want to try to solve it. [Or they try once, get it wrong, and give up.] I've never thought to set one up like you did though.

For serious? [Wow, lame. You have to solve puzzles, who doesn't want to solve a good puzzle? Sheesh.] Dude, you should totally try setting up one of your puzzley things in the Battle Dome! You'll have people racing to solve whatever it is in no time like that!

You mean...to a life size scale? Most of the puzzles we have to solve at home are pretty small.

Or even bigger! Think about it, if you're having a total blast solving little puzzles then supersized puzzles should make it like ten times better or something, an even bigger blast, kaboom!

We try not to have explosions happen as a result of a puzzle. Unless they have to.

You've pulled off puzzles where explosions have to happen?! [Talk about intense.] Quick, tell me more!

Well...you see, we were escaping from a big giant robot that was in the middle of destroying Future London, and in order to keep the car going we had to get it through a few really tricky spots.

Oh man... That sounds totally awesome! I never even thought of car puzzles, or doing puzzles while driving a car, or whatever! And having a giant robot in there too makes it even awesomer!

[Good thing she learnt all about cars and how the whole driving thing works not too long ago.]

Doing puzzles while driving a car can be really dangerous if you're the driver and you're not Professor Layton. [So don't try this at home.]

It...wasn't very "awesome" at all. A lot of people could have been hurt.

[Oh... It still sounds awesome. Minus the people getting hurt part.]

You could probably whip up somethin' that's like doing puzzles while driving in the battle dome, only y'know, without the risk of getting smacked around. That'd send your brain into overdrive, and get the adrenaline pumping!

You like thinking about how to make impossible things work, don't you.

But it's not impossible! When you're tappatapping away in the dome you can do all sortsa stuff, even cooking up some car driving, puzzle solving action! You've just gotta know how to program it juuust right so it all comes together.

Thanks, but I think I'll leave the 'programming' to people who really understand that sort of thing. [Usually, machines are coming after them, not helping.]
